i have a long term memory lost. seriously.. i have some memories in my childhood that i can't remember at all. but some that i still remember, clearly. a recent invitation to my elementary school reunion makes me realised that it was quite serious. i can't really recall most of the ex-students but for some reason, there's this sorta clue about a certain person.. but still i there's so many thing i can't remember. i can only recall like 30% of my classmates and the rest, vanished into thin air. i was not-so introverted person that i am right now. i was a outspoken kid who very loud and ready to pick up a fight at anytime. but not that i'm the school bully, i just "mouth" fight with everyone until i was half way through my secondary school years. thats when i started to shut up and listen and until today, i am relearning to open my mouth back.
some memories are still clear and vivid.. like when i 'main nama bapak orang' and found out by my teacher, i ran away out of the class when it was in session. i was in primary 6. what was i thinking?? huh.. at that time it might seem so funny and fun but thinking back about it, that was quite dumb. but i was just a kid. at the end i went back to the class and the teacher pulled my ears. there was also this one time, at a school spelling contest, i remembered that i spelled one word wrong.. i spelled it 'langauge' instead of 'language'. i immidiately realise that i made that mistake once i got out of the hall. huh. but non the less, my elementary school days ended so well. while more than half the class went to mrsm due to good grads to go for an excellence camp, i and the rest of the class attend 'ordinary' kelas tambahan for UPSR. it wasn't fun. at that time i really wanted to join that camp so bad. but being an under dog, everyone underestimated me, even my parents.. they say i'm not as genius as my other siblings. but i got straight As for my 1st big exam. even my class teacher was so shocked that i got it.
p/s: even how genius you are, you wont make it anywhere with a bad attitude.
^^^cocky one but whatever!! haha... i just need to write something.
i was thinking to shake a little bit this blog.. i will post cartoons in the future. that will spice things up a bit.

datuk lat at utm
my first day in utm was a mess.. finding a place to stay since i stayed outside last semester. this time i'll stay inside the campus. just for 2-3 weeks that is. later, then that i'll be spending my time in my beloved hometown, kuching. so far thats the plan. for long term, i was thinking to moved out of kuching after 2-3 years working there. hmm.. probably end of 2012. if nothing really happen then, i'll probably be going to sydney to find job opportunity. haha. yes, i partly believe there's something is going to happen anytime soon. its either doomsday or just series of natural disaster like volcanic eruption. either way, its not going to be very nice. many will die. i'm not planning to go to america since they have yellowstone national park there where its most likely to erupt in the near future. ok enough with 2012 movie.. besides, the ending suck.
back to the topic.. mm.. ya.. the first day.. so, when i went to the admin office to ask about my hostel, i saw datuk lat. typical me.. i'll just sit there and observed him. i didn't say hi to him. just a few months back a just read a bunch of his cartoon novels which we scavenge from studio. note scavenge means keeping other people's unwanted properties. those are comics left behind by our juniors in studios upstairs at the end of semester. but i have been reading his comics since small and i find it really amusing. he was in utm for karyawan jemputan or something. he looks so calm and relaxed. no formal suit or anything, just a hawaii shirt and slacks and of course shoes. everyone of the staffs are like busy kissing ass smiling from ear to ear, greeting the famous cartoonist when before he came, everyone was like so stiff and cold. typical of malaysians, like to kiss ass which i'll probably will have to do too..
i might want to look into comics for my side-carrier in the future. because this is what i'm destined to do.. lat is such an inspiration.. hopefully i can be as successful as him in the future, if not better!

repeat again..
repeat again.. yeah2.. the 'repeat' word will be a taboo word for me for the next 200 years. this is the second time i will be repeating my final year of architecture degree. the most depressed person would be me.. not my parents or my girlfriend or my lecturers but of course its me. why? because i will have to worry about my own studies and then worry about what my parents, friends and lecturers would think about me. repeat students would literally translate into 'losers'. yeah "L" letter for me.. hey, being loser isn't a bad thing i guess. well, most part it is but i just knew that albert einstein and adolf hitler was loser before they were to be icon of humankind. hmmpphh.. so much for the inspiration.
now, i'm at this lame psz library in the computer where the internet is sucky as hell. i can't even open google.. a while ago i can but now it seems to be blocked. i can only open blogger, yahoo and of course UTM's websites. looking around PSZ, not much differences at the book storage area but this computer area sure is different. i mean just the computers.. flat screens and the cpu is small compared to the normal 'clone' computers which is a good thing. i don't really know what i'm talking about so, i'll just write whatever that crosses my mind. someone just farted next to me. it doesn't sound loud but enough to be noticed in 5 meter radius. haha.. he sits back down. pretending he didn't fart. my guess is that he will walked out after this.
yup.. he did.

laksa trial
i just got back from kuching yesterday, bringing lots of the local food with me.. today, i tried cooking laksa sarawak. after doing some research on the internet, i bought some things at a supermarket near my house.the laksa paste i bought in kuching and all the other ingredients from local store. this is how it looks like:-

the taste? superb.. i never knew that it is very easy to cook laksa. well, there's a lot of preparations but the taste was worth the work.

raya 2009
To begin with, i'm not really a raya person. Since a few years back i feel that raya have no significance for me like we were just kids. but raya this time is quite something. First of all its our first raya without popo (grandma). she lived with my aunty, ee aling and her 3 children. every raya they will visit us and eat everything we serve especially ketupat, lemang, kari ayam, rendang but not really the confectionaries. if wa is celebrating with us in kuching, that would be better. her superb sticky rice ketupats and chicken curry is really tempting. we will eat only chicken curry for 4 days. Even though wa celebrated raya with us this year, popo is gone.. the first day of raya, ee aling came to visit us with her children and ee kuroi. certainly feels different. it feels like we're missing something. i know everyone is feeling so.. one moment there were chit chatting, and then silence. mum's definitely most affected by her death. she refused to follow us for raya visits. as the still follows partly chinese tradition to not celebrate festive seasons. So, we didn't do many visits.

My sis when back for raya this time. Its been about 2 years that she didn't came home to celebrate raya with the whole family. And wa also joined us. Wa have been like my mother since i was a baby.. so, she have a special place in me. With everyone here, this raya feels like a great one. wa cooked for us delicious foods.. curry and bubur pedas.. my favourite.
This raya also i went to my girl's house for visit. I'm not that matured person who usually do such matured stuff but this time i forced myself to do so for my own good and everyone that involved. I'd be lying if i say i'm not shaking and nervous, there were times i couldn't hide my nervousness but most of the time i was perfectly in control. but that doesn't mean i was doing well. i suck. i didn't mix so much with people around me especially those pakcik2 because the gap are to big. but there were some people who are in their 20's there and i talked a bit with them. In the end of the day, it was a good experience for me and also good for my future.

On the 7th day of raya, i went out for raya with friends to nourre's engagement. i assumed that as a combo of engagement, raya visit and reunion. not so many ex-schoolmate attend but it was enough for me. after the ceremony, we went to school.. revisiting the memories of those days when everyone are still growing up together as teenagers. many changes have taken place, one thing's for sure its a positive change. my school was named the best boarding school in malaysia last year. how cool is that? that's a huge achievement. we even met cikgu sharkawi on our way to exit the school. he looks different. looks tired and thin. especially the face.. but still with his boroi tummy. LOL!

new things in the city
oh kuching.. in 2 weeks time i'll be back in my hometown for raya break.. its always a nice feeling to be back. i can't wait to see new things there and snap some photos. kuching CBD by dzuren hamzah from flickr:

the newly completed BCCK, borneo convention centre from bcck.com.my

the new intracity bus (MBKS only) just operated 5 september 2009. bus for DBKU area are not announced yet its operation but hopefully the bus looks better than this. however the bus route plan for north kuching only covers one route that is from city centre to samariang. :(
as a loyal bus user since primary school (no choice, what to do?) until my matriculation years and sometimes now, i'm relief that the busses have been replaced and improved. this will help hundreds if not thousands of kuching residents and also outsiders to get around the city.

i'm not so excited about the design of the bus. thus, i designed my very own bus based on my imagination.. :)

buddies' convocation
People say there's always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Well, in our case it took 5 years for us to find one and for me its 5 and a half years. Nevermind, yesterday was dedicated to all my coursemate friends especially my buddies who had their convocation day. Everyone have smiles on their faces with some having tears of joy. Honestly, everyone looks handsome and beautiful that day. For me, it gives me a boost to continue on with my final semester. Congratulations everyone!

my new room

we just moved here 1 week plus ago. u can imagine how excited everyone to decorate their room .. i guess that's just applicable to architecture students. ;P .well, after 5 years of brainwashing by the architecture school, now we see the world differently. we tend to look into details, everything is based on aesthetics. but aesthetics depends on the beholder. i chose minimalist for my room. the room is not 100% done yet. there's more to be done... the accessories, the wall deco, the curtains, storage boxes.. bla,bla,bla... we'll just wait and see.. hopefully it will turn out as i imagine it would be..

extend
aku rasa mcm satu dunia dah tahu aku extend studies. soklan bertanyakan mengapa extend mcm dah beribu kali aku jawab tapi aku cuba untuk tak snap. aku jawab dgn tenang dan berhati-hati untuk jelaskan keadaan sbenar walaupun setiap kali mendengar soklan tu secara langsung dan tak langsung seperti memperingatkan aku tentang kegagalan untuk grad sama2 dgn rerakan same batch. tapi takpe.. aku mmg stress tp aku handle dgn baik sekali. well, look at the positive side. aku nak bila aku grad bangga dgn hasil kerja aku. aku nak grad bukan sekadar lepas tapi grad dgn senyuman lebar dan bangga dgn pencapaian bukanlah grad sekadar lepas je.. hopefully dptlah tercapai cita2 aku hujung sem dpan. wish me luck!
ps: tahun 2009 a.k.a. tahun lembu tahun yg tidak brp lucky utk sesiapa lahir pd tahun lembu. harap tahun depan lebih bernasib baik.

Borneo Convention Centre Kuching

Now, here's some photos taken from www.bcck.com.my on the latest update of BCCK project. The building is lookin' good (good enough for kuching) eventhough its not the most beautiful building in the world, its nice enough for a developing city like Kuching. the photos were taken this month and if u notice the marina is also almost complete! and land have been cleared in the last photo.. it might be kuching tower which will be office + hotel (Marriott) OR shopping mall (TESCO+JUSCO+IKEA) OR just shophouses ( if its shophouse it should be of good design and concept) as planned in the Kuching Isthmus Development Plan. But then again, not sure of the development on the cleared site.. it could be anything

my vision of kuching central business district in the future
FUTURAMAKU
Lately ramai yg terfikir pasal future.. ye la da nak grad.. ak pn same kot. ade yg cite2 menggunung like the sky is the limit.. ade pulak yg nak keje JKR je sbb nak senang keje.. huh! entahlah.. aku pk aku masih kurang jelas.. masih tertanya-tanya apa nak jadi ngan aku.. no choice tp jd architectla kan.. hmmpphh~..penat2 blaja xkan nak jd penyanyi? well.. time will tell tp tu lah.. choice is in your hand. buat mase ni ape penting bg aku ialah future life aku tak semestinya jd seorang arkitek yg famous atau berjaya gila babas tp hidup happily and comfortably.. too low target.. NO.. its called moderate. aku x kejar kemewahan.. aku x kejar kefemesan.. tp aku cuma kejar kebahagiaan.. tp kalau peluang jadi kaya dah terhampar depan mata aku pasti x tolak.. just go with the flow..
site visit AI in segamat
I'm so not a site person but when it comes to marks i'll do anything including not sleeping for the night just to wait for the bus to segamat 630 am this morning. yes, i haven't slept. So, the journey begins early in the dawn, no one's seems to be at the bus stop at this time. suddenly a car stop by and drop off two familiar ladies. It was Era and Nurul. So, i went to the bus stop greeting them.. then appears Lebai followed by Mirul. Since it was too early and very little people came at the time, the bus also haven't arrived.. we went to have breakfast at arcade cengal. Then, i saw Ct Hanis, Kak Asmah, May, Kak Long and last but not least Pn. Amalina. She was also there picking some kuehs for breakfast. After having nasi lemak and plain water, we rushed to the bus stop knowing that the bus have arrived. Later on, we were on the way to segamat and i fall asleep most of the time on the bus.. ZzZzZ..

We arrived at UiTM Segamat at about 12 i guess and straight away taken to a construction site where a new lecture hall is being build. If i'm not mistaken it was the resident architect who give us tour around the building. We followed him around like a school of fish listening to everything he said and (pretend) trying to jot down notes. After the tour, we were then taken to another merely finished building where we were supposed to do inspections on the defects. LALALALA~.. mmmmphh.. then, finally everything was done and we were off to have some lunch. We had lunch at some restaurant that wasn't really good.. the menus are quite sucky but seems like its one of the top restaurant there. Well, its a small town after all and you can't expect to much.. we went back to UTM later that evening and i was asleep again all the way back.. ZzZzZz..

tanjung piai and kukup (part 2)
We immediately taken into the information centre on the main jetty (is that the correct term?) and we were given brief on the island. Not far from the jetty, there are 2 watch tower connected by a sky bridge. However the other tower on the other side of the skybridge was under maintanence due to its leaning structure. Thus, we crossed over the sky bridge and took some snapshots. After having some height fright, everyone continued their journey on the wooden deck looking around whether they could find any life forms.. I've spotted this eagle size bird busy cleaning its feather approximately 30 metres from where we stand.

Finally, we got to the end of the deck where we are supposed to get on a boat cruise along sungai ular.. but the boat or the boat deck was not operating (huh!) so, we went back to the jetty to return to the mainland, kukup. On our journey back to the jetty, suddenly my friend shouted, "BABI!! Ape bende ni!" as she throws away a huge bag full of prawn crackers to the floor and scooted as fast as she could.. Everyone was in shock and spontanously ran together like a pack of bison chased by lion.. (including the park guide!).. After a few minutes of running everyone looked back and burst out of laugh as everyone realize that it was just a macaque that wants a bit of our food. Everyone thought it was a wildboar!

After a few minutes of running everyone looked back and burst out of laugh as everyone realize that it was just a macaque that wants a bit of our food. Everyone thought it was a wildboar!

after that short entertainment, everyone was exhausted and continue laughing at the jetty.. thinking back how silly was our reaction "chased" by the primate who was actually approaching us in cool macho mode without the intention of scaring us. It was not showing any agression when it approach us from the back. That was something.. So, as the boat arrive to take us back to the mainland, we were joined by a couple of Japanese tourist acompanied by a tour guide. Around the island there are several fish farms where they are said to be main exporter to Singapore. The boat stopped at one of the farm and we were taken to see how they feed the fishes. After that, we finally got on the mainland and straight away went to find a place to have lunch.

After having a not-so-appeasing lunch, we picked our bags and went straight to tanjung piai by taxi. Arrived at about 3-4 pm, the checked into our resort room and prepared ourself before we go to Tanjung Piai park. The park was under renovation and the route that usually used by visitors was not operating. So, we took the palm plantation route which is kinda scary as if in a horror movie setting. Though we weren't sure whether the road is gonna take us to the right destination, we kept on walking on the rough rubbles and keep walking, and walking, and walking. Then, finally we arrived at the national park after half an hour of painful steps. We head to the counter to buy drinks as we were exhausted and "dried up". The same as kukup, tanjung piai was surrounded by thick layers of mangrove forest and the faunas are similar. but we didn't find any except for the obnoxious macaques and they are not adorable at all, PERIOD!

After that long walk and talking pictures everywhere we go, we decided to head back to our hotel and get ready for the crit session later that evening. Everyone wasn't prepared actually for the crit.. just that to get comments from the lecturers. Back at the hotel, everyone gathered at a wakaf in front of the block waiting for lecturers but they didn't showed up. so, some of us went upstairs to pray or watch tv. At about 6-7 pm the lecturers arrived .. the crit session starts. but i didn't joined, i just listen to other people's crit. Dinner that nught was on Dr Hamdan and we had quite a chat with him and Dr Zin on the dinner table. As all the food was all finish, the lecturers were ready to get back to JB and we head back to our rooms to get some rest after that tiring day.

The next day after everyone was having a good night sleep, we were ready to hop on the bus straight to UTM.. everyone slept again on the bus

popcornizered
Celebrating our batch's very own pre graduation day, the juniors specifically 2nd year batch eureka prepared us with an amazing popcornizer event. We all enjoyed the nite eventhough there are some flaws here and there overall, the event was great and we really appreciate it! Thanks to Eureka.. the best part of the event is photo taking session of course! spent almost an hour to do so.. LOL! we were all prepped up to pose and all the girls are like dressed-to-kill. It was fun and all but the essence of the whole event was as a token of appreciation for our batch, chronicles.
some videos on the event:-
Well, the event was seriously amazing because almost all the performance was superb eventhough almost all are bands. FUN!FUN!FUN!.. ow.. i forgot, i dressed up as "The Spirit". in the end, my face was burned due to the fact that my skin is sensitive to the flammable chemical in the art gum that i used. My friend dressed up as "The Spirit" too and used the same gum but he didn't get burns. Well, all worth the effort (and burns) and the important thing is that i have a lot of fun that night and thanks again to Eureka.
p/s: the food wasn't really nice actually but its ok.

Impian ke Luar Negara
Dah lama dah berangan nak berhijrah ke luar negara.. (berangan je keje). Bukan ape.. just nak try hidup kat negara org dgn cara hidup yg berbeza. Terus terang aku katakan yang environment kat Malaysia especially kat Kuala Lumpur langsung x menarik minat aku.. dari politician yang semakin terpesong sehinggala suasana kota yang hiruk pikuk tak tau bila nak reda. Ade bbrp negara yg aku shortlistkan utk try nasib:-
- canada (Montreal)
- australia (sydney)

- america (specifically San Francisco@Chicago)

- and last but not least singapore.

Tapi hati aku berkeras nak p US. aku pun tak tau nape.. kalo nak keje kat msia pn ak nak keje either kat kuching ataupun JB. Hopefully dapatlah p nanti.. semoga aku dapat pergi (fingers crossed)

And I really want to go places every corner of the city.. from santubong to batu 7 and from bau to petra jaya.. T___T
